I didn't start my career in bookkeeping. I started it in the trenches of accounts payable in Alberta's oilfield services industry, processing vendor invoices, managing payment runs, reconciling high-volume accounts, and seeing firsthand how quickly financial visibility can get lost when a busy trades business doesn’t have the right systems behind it.
I've seen the cash flow gaps that catch contractors off guard. I've seen what happens when job costing isn't tracked and a busy month still somehow ends up unprofitable. And I've seen owners working seven days a week because nobody ever set up a financial system that worked without them in it.
