about bricked bookkeeping

Built by Someone Who’s Sat on Both Sides of the Invoice

I didn’t start my career in bookkeeping. I started it in the trenches of accounts payable in Alberta’s oilfield services industry — processing vendor invoices, managing payment runs, reconciling high-volume accounts, and watching what happens to a trades business when the numbers aren’t managed with discipline.

I’ve seen the cash flow gaps that catch contractors off guard. I’ve seen what happens when job costing isn’t tracked and a busy month still somehow ends up unprofitable. And I’ve seen owners working seven days a week because nobody ever set up a financial system that worked without them in it.

That experience is what Bricked Bookkeeping was built on.

Why Trades. Why This.

Most bookkeepers learn your industry from the outside. I learned it from inside the finance department of the companies that were paying your invoices.

I understand how contractors price jobs, how subcontractor relationships work, how seasonal revenue creates cash flow pressure, and why the back office is always the last thing to get attention when work is busy — and the first thing that causes stress when it isn’t.

Bricked Bookkeeping exists because trades business owners deserve a bookkeeper who already speaks their language — not one who needs six months to figure out what a T4A is or why job costing matters.

What You Can Expect Working With Me

I run a lean, focused practice. That means when you work with Bricked Bookkeeping, you work with me — not a junior staff member, not an overseas contractor. Every file gets my full attention, every month, on a consistent schedule.

I’m not here to just keep your books clean. I’m here to make sure you always know where your business stands — which jobs are profitable, where your cash is going, and what’s coming before it becomes a problem.

Clean books. Clear numbers. No surprises.

A Little More About Me

I’m an Edmonton-based mother, community builder, and lifelong learner who believes that strong businesses build strong communities. I bring the same values to every client relationship — reliability, straight talk, and genuine investment in your success.

When I’m not working with clients, I’m deep in the trades and construction community in Alberta — which means the network and knowledge I bring to your books goes well beyond the spreadsheet.
